I just received an email from Noodle & Co. stating that for the entire month of August kids eat FREE on Tuesday nights from 5 – 9 pm. How awesome is that! Free food is always good and being able to eat out for cheap is even better. It’s good for kids 12 and under so go on Tuesday nights and take the family for a good night out!
I am a mom and wife. I try to shoulder it all in hopes that our life is better because of it. I do the best I can with what I am given and hope to make more. I have high aspirations that I can make our life simple and easy. Not too often are those two words synonymous, but I hope I can one of these days. This is my journey on getting there.

Wishing to be a SAHM
I have done a lot this morning that I needed to get done... new tires, got the car inspected, etc. And while it was nice to get all that done... the things I have loved the most this morning...
The girls waking me up and coming to cuddle with me in our bed
Not rushing and taking my time
Cooking the girls breakfast (and sitting down to eat with them)
Being able to talk with my girls this morning without having to give them "orders"... get dressed, brush your teeth, get your shoes, etc.
Taking the eldest to pre-school
Spending time with the baby
I really wish I was a full time stay at home mom. I would love to be able to have these mornings more frequently, like every morning! It was nice to be able to cuddle with them in the bed and sing the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme song this morning.
What would I need to do in order to be able to be a SAHM? I wouldn't even mind being a working SAHM. I am NOT saying that SAHMs that don't have duties "owed" to an employer don't work because running a household is work, serious work, work you can't leave, work that never leaves you, work that whines and fusses at you (lol) and better yet... work that is more rewarding than anything!
Yes, it is the hardest work anyone could ever do and even though you don't get monetary compensation it leaves you with the most fulfilling, happy, most wonderous feeling that you don't care if you ever get paid for it! I got the great opportunity to be a SAHM to my oldest daughter for the first 11 months of her life. And it was wonderful. I am a caretaker by nature and I love and thrive off of taking care of people, the house, pets, friends, etc. I love taking a place to live and making it feel like home. A place where everyone feels welcome.
Back to the topic right now... to be a SAHM would be a blessing. But in order to do that I need to supplement our income. My hubs and mother in law both think that I should teach people how to shop with coupons. Or even do the grocery shopping for those that don't have the time. Cook their meals for them ahead of time (a week at a time) for them to pop in the oven when they are ready to eat. I have thought about this a lot and have turned the idea over and over in my head, but right now this is not feasible however badly I wish it were.
Not only do I work full time, have two beautiful girls, a wonderful husband, a house to take care of, and everything that comes with running a house and the life of all included but I'm also in school full time. I am taking four classes again this fall semester. I believe that one day I will be able to put my energy and time into starting a home based business, but from what I've researched about home based businesses you have to put so much time and energy in order to start the business that I wouldn't have time to go to school and it is very important to me to have that piece of paper that says I'm worth a $hit! I want my girls to know that both mommy and daddy went to college and that they know anything can be done.
Yes, one of these days I will start my home based business but with all we have going on I don't have the time needed to start one and I really don't even have the time to keep up with one even if it was already established and profitable! I believe that my time right now needs to be my girls and family. While I wish that I could be a SAHM especially while they are little so I could cherish all these wonderful moments there are just sometimes we can't have what we want. At least my girls will know that hard work does pay off.
In the meantime I think I possibly could do little classes every now and again on how to coupon shop. I think I could do that without taxing myself... what do you think?

Sad Day
Yes, now I can elaborate a bit more. I am very disappointed that there are no triples at HT this week. Even more than normal because I am off Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week. I would have had all the time in the world to go grocery shopping to get some free/cheap stuff but NO TRIPLES. Really, I am sad…
Very disappointed
Tearing up
Crying uncontrollably
On my knees screaming for a Snickers bar from underneath my desk
I’m pathetic
I’m a coupon nerd, but my hubs still loves me!

Get Ready!
I am keeping my eyes open and getting ready for the triple coupons that are supposed to start at HT on Wednesday. I am going to be linking up an internet printable coupons that I run across that will possibly make a GREAT deal this week.
You can never have enough hand soap so here is a coupon for .50 off SoftSoap! You cannot hit the back button to print but if you go to the link twice and go through the same steps (second time you don’t have to register) you can print it twice. It took me less than a minute to get both printed.
So far coupons I’ve linked, very short list right now!
.75 off Hellmann’s mayo
And this one!

Still...
Still steady working and almost three and a half hours later, but who doesn’t like the extra money that overtime pay provides on your paycheck. I have literally gotten about two times the work done in three hours that I normally would have gotten done in eight while in the office. It’s crazy how much distraction I actually have in the office.
Unfortunately next week my officemate will be back from a week’s vacation and ready to talk, talk , talk. I’m so tired of all her talking, but nothing I can do about that except grin and bear it… and put my headphones in so I can do my work and keep at it.
I hope everyone has a great weekend because I know mine will be wonderful. Busy, yes, but wonderful all the same… goodnight world (in another forty minutes!).

Working OT
I am working overtime tonight for work, but I am doing from the comfort of my home. More exact, my bed!!! This is great. I wish I could work like this every day! I am so much more productive and getting more done without the outside distraction of other people in my office. This is wonderful!! Thank you bossman for letting me work OT from home since I cannot make it in this weekend. It will really help to pay towards the insurance deductibles we are having to pay from our girls having surgery this year. THANK YOU!!!
Hellman's Coupon
Here is a link for .75 off Hellman’s so this one should get you a good deal next week or save for a week when you know it will double if it’s not on sale! Don’t forget to hit the back button and print it twice… I did and am going to do again from home. Yes, I’m evil and printed it from work!!! Ha ha ha!
HT Triples Starting 07/21/10
Other good blogs have now confirmed that Harris Teeter will have triples starting next Wednesday (07/21/10). I tend to believe the ones I saw it on this time as they have never steered me wrong. I will be posting links for good coupons that should get you some good deals next week! So keep checking back for more updates.

AE Deal
For a limited time at American Eagle stores and AE.com you can buy any graphic T shirt and get a second one of equal or lesser value (of course) for 50% off. This does include regular and clearance items! Also, they have shorts on sale too, so check it out and see what kind of deal you can get!
Shutterfly Shipping for FREE
For orders of $30 or more you can get free shipping by using the code “SHIP30” at checkout. This offer expires August 11, 2010. You will still have for the product and taxes, but one more way to save a few pennies.
***SIDE NOTE: Throughout the year when I see that certain places have deals on photo books, prints, calendars, etc. with pictures (especially when they are free) I will go ahead and create something and order it. These are nice to save up through the year for gifts for parents and grandparents. Think if you did nothing but the free photo books that are offered throughout the year and created different photo books of various vacations, daycations, and trips… you would have quite a few by the end of the year to either keep yourself for memory’s sake or to give as a gift at Christmas!
Shutterfly 20% off Photo Books
From now until July 15, 2010 Shutterfly is offering 20% off their photo books. Use the code “JULYBOOKS” to receive this at check out. I have ordered their books before and they are great quality. I even ordered one with pictures from our wedding and love that you can add captions or even a story for that matter about the pictures! Great gift ideas for grandparents especially if they weren’t there at the time the pictures were taken and you and your little one can come up with the captions together. Or you can do by yourself if you would like to save some time!
Putting Your Affairs in Order
I don’t normally post jokes that I get but this one was too good to pass up!
The doctor, after an examination sighed and said “I’ve got some bad news. You have cancer and you’d best put your affairs in order.”
The woman was shocked but managed to compose herself and walk into the waiting room where her daughter had been waiting. “Well, daughter, we women celebrate when things are good and we celebrate when things don’t go so well. In this case, things aren’t well. I have cancer. So, let’s head to the bar and have a martini.”
After three or four martinis, the two were feeling a little less somber. There were some laughs and more martinis. They were eventually approached by some of the woman’s old friends, who were curious as to what the two were celebrating. The woman told her friends they were drinking to her impending end, “I’ve been diagnosed with AIDS.” The friends were aghast, gave the woman their condolences and beat a hasty retreat.
After the friends left, the woman’s daughter leaned over and whispered, “Momma, I thought you said you were dying of cancer and you just told your friends you were dying of AIDS!? Why did you do that?”
The woman smiled and answered “Because I don’t want any of those bitches sleeping with your father after I’m gone!”
And THAT my friend is what is called “Putting your affairs in order!”

Recipes
Red Beans and Rice
Sauté diced onion with cut up smoke sausage and season with some Tony’s, garlic (powder not salt), pepper, and ground or flake red pepper.
Cook until onion is translucent and sausage it browned.
Next add a bag of dried red kidney beans and water to cover and fill up the pot and just cook forever (covered)! You will have to add water as the beans soak it up.
Once the beans are cooked through remove the lid and reduce the liquid down so it’s thicker and how you like it. Then season again. Don’t season between the time you add the beans and the end because with the water being added and then reduced you want to wait until you’re not going to change the liquid level.
The following filling can be used for almost anything… soft tacos, enchiladas, pizza, top salads, etc.
Buffalo Chicken Filling
Boil chicken (or leftover chicken of ANY type… grilled, baked, boiled, whatever) and strip from bone… tear or cut up…
Buffalo sauce… 1 Cup hot sauce (texas pete or frank’s red hot are best), stick of butter (to reduce the heat, but I don’t normally add this anymore), 1 package of the dry Italian seasoning mix… heat through.
Add the sauce to the chicken or… I add the chicken to the pot of the hot sauce and mix through so it heats up the chicken at the same time if its leftovers.
Enchiladas
Take soft flour tortillas, use cream of chicken and put a line of it down the middle of the tortilla, add the chicken mixture and some cheese, roll up and put in a baking pan. Continue until pan fills up. Once filled, top the enchiladas with cream of chicken and cheese… cover with foil and bake 350 until heated through.
I quit doing the enchiladas and just opt for putting them in soft tacos because I’m impatient and by the time I get off work and get home and all of it done, I’m ready to eat and don’t want to wait another 30 minutes!
My Favorite…
Burrito Casserole
Take leftover chicken or use ground meat, whatever you want to use for the filling of the burrito… cook thoroughly and add either taco or fajita seasoning mix per the instructions on the packet (or you can make buffalo style using the above filling).
Layer in a casserole dish… enchilada sauce (so tortillas won’t stick, get dry or burn), tortillas to cover the bottom, burrito filling, cheese, tortillas, enchilada sauce, meat, cheese, repeat until casserole dish is full and end with a layer of tortillas covered with enchilada sauce.
Cover with foil and bake at 350 for about 30-45 minutes.
For my burrito casserole I add a can of Rotel in with the meat and seasonings to add some more heat (yum!). Then I top with all the taco toppings that I want.
Everyone’s Favorite…
Chicken Salad
Bake either a whole chicken or split chicken breasts… season with Tony’s, garlic and onion powders.
Cover with foil and bake until cooked through
Once baked, uncover, remove the chicken to a different dish and cut the skin off (or at least peal it back), and cut the chicken while it’s still on the bone to help cool. Let cool about ten minutes and then debone the chicken and tear or cut into bite size pieces.
Add mayo, garlic powder, onion powder and pepper to the mix until flavored to your liking.
The following are optional but I add grapes (either cut in half or quartered depending on how big they are), onion (diced small) or green onion, and walnuts or pecans.
This really is AWESOME chicken salad and I hope you enjoy!

Cereal Coupon Criminal
I finally went “real” grocery shopping for the first time in I know at LEAST four weeks. I have been slack since we’ve had so much going on between baby’s birthday and going to the beach. I decided not to neglect my family’s nutritional needs for another moment and finally went this weekend. Granted, I did wait until the last minute and went at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, but hey, I went and that’s all that counts. I didn’t do as good as I normally do but we needed a bunch of stuff we don’t normally have to buy (like the jar of minced garlic), but I did well. I didn’t go to “my” HT because they know me all too well and know I use the “wrong” coupons on items, but I’m past the point of caring and just drove an additional few miles to a different one where they don’t have my picture posted as a “Cereal Coupon Criminal”!
Reynold’s Wrap Pop Up sheets – 1.29 - .75Q for reynold’s wrap dbld = free
Smart Balance non stick cooking spray – 2.99 – 2.00Q for smart balance milk = .99
All General Mills products have UPC 16000… this is for cereals, fiber one products, nature’s valley granola bars, brownie mixes, etc. so I used the .50 Q for fiber one pop tarts off the Nature’s Valley granola bars so this reduced them significantly to 1.00 off 1 versus using the .75 Q on two. Could have used these on brownie mix or even Bisquick products (the packets of the biscuit mix would have been free!)
The Pepperidge farm bread coupons work on the Pepperidge farm cookies and even Goldfish!
I bought Bounce dryer sheets 80 ct for 3.99 – 3.00 tide release coupon = .99 each (I needed dryer sheets badly)
I found so many things that I could use wrong coupons on!
Gillette Customer Plus Pivot razors on sale for 5.99 – 4.00 Gillette coupon = 1.99 for 11 razors!!! So .18 ea!
L’Oreal Kids Shampoo for 3.59 – 3.00 L’Oreal hair color coupon = .59
The Lever soap coupons match the UPC for Dove products so this would be great to use too.
I really can’t wait for triple coupons to start and I really hope they do on 07/21/10 because I have the day off and will GLADLY go to the store and rack up on some cheap/free stuff using these tricks!!! You just can’t confuse the register and use too many wrong coupons with the same UPC. Stick to only three per UPC if using the wrong ones. Then put your wrong ones on top of the stack and the right ones on the bottom that way if one of your right coupons rings up wrong because of a wrong one applying to the product you can show you did get that item and they will just do an override.

Yes, you heard me right.
I am an addict.
I have fallen head over heels in love with a website.
I check multiple times a day to see what confessions are posted.
If there is nothing new I refresh the page one more time just to make sure.
If nothing new is posted I get depressed.
And eat everything in sight.

Ca-Ching? Did you hear that?
K-Mart Super Doubles
Check here to see if your store is participating (mine is and they never do).
And here are the details for the Shop Your Way rewards card. I looked it up and it's free and you can sign up in the stores.
Now, for the deal and limitations for the super double coupon promotion...
- maximum or five coupons doubled per person per day
- Doubles up to and INCLUDING $2 coupons (woo hoo!!!)
I will definitely be hitting K Mart during my lunch break each day this week and will probably get the following... (remember the prices are from what I've seen online on other blogs so I'm guessing they will be about the same, unless of course on sale, which would be even better!)
Bengay Products $4.29 - 2Q = .29
Cover Girl Lash Blast mascara $6.50 - 2Q = 4.50 (I need mascara)
There are many other coupons that I am going to be taking that were listed on the match up that I looked at and would get great deals compared to the normal prices...
Paper products, $2 Pampers wipes coupon (may be able to get a good deal on the refill packs), $2 Johnson and Johnson bed time printable coupon, $2 J&J gift set (baby shower coming up anyone?) and all kinds of paper products, toiletries and such.
Get your coupons ladies because it looks like triples at HT and super doubles at K Mart! What a good week to stock up on stuff!!
CVS Ends Today
Make sure to utilize the fact that CVS does rain checks. They don't advertise it but all you have to do is ask for one. This way you can still roll your ECB's over when they have the items back in stock. I still have one for the household cleaners (including windex and scrubbing bubbles), but $10 worth ($2.50 each) and get $5 ECBs back. I have to find two more Windex coupons for $1 each and then I can get four for .25 each after ECBs back! How awesome is that? So get your rainchecks.
I started using one of the small coupon binder things that you can find at the dollar stores solely for my CVS stuff. In the front I keep my ECBs, then my CRT coupons that print out, then my rainchecks and also, I have been keeping my receipts so I can keep count of everything I've gotten and if I've maxed any of the ECB deals out because I can never remember so this way I can cash in on all of the deals. I also keep the coupons that I am going to use that trip in there, so that way everything is in one spot and I don't have to go digging for anything. I keep this in my reusable bag that I use each time so I can scan my "bag tag" and get those ECBs as well. I just keep it stowed in my car always ready for the next shopping trip!
Whilst Sitting Outside
I have shifted my priorities around this summer to make sure my priorities line up with having children. During the fall and spring I am in school full time so my priorities are much different during that time so this summer I did not take any classes and am making sure that my girls are able to be kids, make memories, spend time with mommy and daddy and just be little! It really sunk in when I was reading something on the wall at my oldest daughter's preschool. They have a poster on the wall where the teacher wrote down how each of them said they went to sleep each night. Some of them made me sad when I read them... I just go to bed and cover myself up, I watch TV and be quiet and then I go to sleep. NONE of them said anything about the parents. Except for our little girl's, "I lay down and get my animals and mommy and daddy reads me a book." None of the other ones said anything about reading books, or the parents being involved. It really made me think... do parents really understand what is important to their children? Are they allowing them to be kids? Are they making lasting memories so their kids will remember them being there? Most of the ones I read made me think that the parents were selfish.
My kids may not remember exactly what we did each night or the small details, but they will remember that we were always there and took time out with them. They will feel they were loved and important. What's that saying... kids may not remember what you said but they will remember how you made them feel. I want them to remember feeling loved.
This summer I haven't been so strict on making sure the house is perfectly clean. Mind you, everything is picked up and neat, but just don't look too close at my baseboards! Since my in laws bought a beach house this summer I have been trying to make sure we spend plenty of time out here. Playing on the beach, building castles, floating in the pool, finding shells and doing things they will remember. I want to make sure they know they were the #1 priority in our lives. Now, I just have to be better at documenting it through pictures!
I've even found some free/cheap things to do this summer to fill in the gaps when we're at home or during the week. Sometimes it's OK to stay out late because there was a movie in the park or an outside festival going on so we've been doing those things too. I found a park near the house that has movies outside all summer long. The admission is $3 for anyone over 12 so the girls are free. We just went to see Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs two weeks ago and they had a ball. There is nothing better than seeing the smile on your child's face and seeing the pure joy in their eyes at doing something they enjoy. Make time for that. I am.
Yes, I spend time doing coupons, searching for bargains and occasionally a pedicure or something for me. But I will never sacrifice my child's happiness for any of that... you can't bottle it, you can't buy it... you have to seek it out. Think of every day as a treasure hunt seeking out the grand prize... their smile. Sometimes it's as easy as pulling them around the floor on a blanket or having a carpet picnic for dinner in the living room. Small things make the biggest difference in who they turn out to be, how they look at you and the kind of parents they will strive to be one day.
What kind of parent do you want them to be to your grandchildren? Sometimes you don't take the time to look twenty or twenty-five years down the road so take today and make it a treasure hunt for their smile. I am.

Wags Dr. Scholls Corrections
I went to Wags and the Dr. Scholl’s massaging gel inserts were $11.99, not $6.99 as reported on other websites. Also, the Rough Skin Eraser was $7.29 so there would be nothing you would have to buy to cover the overage from the coupons since it’s not $6.99. I bought this (without having the $2 coupon) since I still thought it was a good deal and like to pamper my feet occasionally and it was $2.85 OOP. Not a bad price for something normally over $7 and makes you feel spoiled!
Dr Scholl's Deal at Wags
It is reported there was a $2 Man Q in the 5/2 SS insert for a Dr. Scholl’s for her coupon. I can’t find mine so I’m SOL, but I thought I would pass along to you in case you kept yours…
At Wags Dr Scholl’s for her Rough Skin Eraser is $6.99. Pair this with the $2 MQ and the $5 Q from the July booklet (at the front of the store) and it will be free. You will have to add something else to your order because there will be a penny overage so get something else that is a deal for this week and you can get some good smooth tootsies for the holiday weekend.
I used Google to try and find a printable $2 coupon that I could use on this, but I came up empty. However, Dr. Scholl’s does have coupons on their website here. You can also see the deals of the week for Walgreens here. They also have a four day sale that is expiring on Saturday so check out those here.
On the Dr. Scholl’s website they have a coupon for the massaging gel inserts for $2 and you can pair that with the $5 Q from the July booklet to get these free as well! They are also $6.99 so you will have to add something else to your order to cover the penny overage.
Happy shopping!
