We have had the hardest time getting our three year old to eat. With us she normally ate alright. It was normal to have some fussing, a few tears and eventually a lot of whining. When we went out in public or someone else's house she was even worse and wouldn't eat at all.
We have tried all methods to get her to eat... threats of going to bed immediately, no TV, time out, sit there until you eat, and just everything we could imagine within reason. Nothing worked. So, we finally try the reward system. You eat dinner, what everyone else is eating, without whining or complaint and you get a sticker on your chart. Once you fill up an entire row with stickers then you get a toy.
We started this on Aug. 26 and she has eaten EVERY night without whining and complaint. Maybe a bit of a whine when she first sees her plate, but that's it. She's been eating it all. We've even gone out to eat with the whole family and she ate... no complaint, nothing. Just like a normal person.
So far, it's working! I hope she keeps it up and we could possibly be at the toy store by Friday! I have my fingers crossed that we will be spending some money on a new toy this week. Here's to hoping!
