I think this was week #3 with my $40 per week grocery goal.
The first week I made it with a few pennies to spare. The second week, this past weekend, I went over by $2.47.
I couldn't help it!!! My laundry detergent was on sale for buy one get one free and I had a $1.50 off 2 coupon so I got two bottles for $6. If it wasn't for that I would have stayed within my budget. We have an HE washer so the detergent is a bit expensive to begin with so when I find it on sale I can't help it!!!
Otherwise I did very well because we'd just gotten back from our trip. I had nothing thawed out or planned to eat Sunday because we'd been out of town and his mom ALWAYS cooks Sunday dinner, but she'd been dealing with the baby all weekend so she was worn out especially after her vomiting issues and scrubbing my carpets (she brought the baby back to our house to sleep in her own bed). Luckily we also have the MOST comfortable bed in the world so I'm sure it wasn't that much of a heart ache to sleep at our house.
Well, we bought a rotisserie chicken for him to make chicken salad and take Monday night for dinner since I wouldn't have anything ready for him and we also bought something to make for dinner that night. Too bad I can't remember what it was.
So, I went over budget by $2.47 which I plan on making up for next week. Let's see how that goes, but I have a feeling I'm going to go way over because this is new to me and I haven't thought about how I'm going to fit paper products and all into my budget. Oh well, it's a learning process, right??
